Emotional responses to a loved one’s addiction can include guilt, anxiety, anger, and obsession. Which is why the relationships one forms in a codependency support group are so rewarding.
By joining a codependency support group, you’ll surround yourself with others in like-situations who, in a confidential setting, display love, empathy, and encouragement to one another. You’ll have the opportunity, if you wish, to share what’s on your heart, or just listen to others share their stories. You’ll also learn much about the disease of addiction and the role codependency plays in loving an addict—including behavior you may think is helping but is actually hurting.
